[Blog] Mr. Kuboyama, a member of the Koishikawa branch, contributed his impressions of the competition held on 5 May.
I am Kohei Kuboyama, a member of the Taishijuku Koishikawa Branch.
I participated in the mens' kata and kumite categories at the 74th Tokyo Karatedo Championships held on 5th of May.
I lost quickly in the kata, but in the kumite I was lucky enough to make it to the top eight.
I was able to fight with confidence thanks to the support of not only my regular training partners but also people from other branches of Taishijuku, who cheered me on from right beside the court.
Other things that made me realise the strength of 'Team Taishijuku' during the day included the high standard of vision in the oath of the competitors given by another Taishijuku member and the number of glasses and bottles on the table in Izakaya after the tournament.
The tournament gave me the opportunity to realise my own challenges, so I will continue to work hard on self-discipline in my daily training and improve myself as a member of 'Team Taishijuku' under the guidance of Naka sensei.
