Kawaguchi Honcho Dojo (Adult Class)

The adult class at Kawaguchi Honcho Dojo trains from 19:30 to 20:45 in the gymnasium of Kawaguchi Honcho Elementary School.
Practitioners in their 20s to 70s train together, creating a calm and focused atmosphere where people of different ages and backgrounds can learn traditional karate.

Adult Class Training Summary

This session was led by Sensei Tatsuya Naka.
All members—from beginners to advanced practitioners—worked together on the fundamental basics of Shotokan karate.
Even techniques that everyone already knows become meaningful when revisited with careful attention.

  • Basics in Place Reviewing the shape of each technique, with particular focus on elbow use and correct form.
  • Yakusoku Kumite (Pre-arranged Partner Practice) Moving slowly with a partner to refine the feeling of receiving an incoming punch and maintaining proper distance.
  • Moving Basics (Ido Kihon) Practicing forward and backward stepping. Single techniques and combination techniques were performed with different breathing patterns, helping practitioners connect breath and movement.
  • Kata – Taikyoku Shodan The class concluded with three rounds of Taikyoku Shodan.

Training at Taishijuku is based on traditional kata practice, which forms the core of karate as a martial art.
Simple movements, repeated with sincerity, create a quiet and concentrated training atmosphere—75 minutes passed quickly as everyone worked with focus.
